If you enjoy jungle adventures you are going to love the tour to this archaeological site.
On the way you will have to cross the waters of the Usumacinta River, which defines part of border between Guatemala and Mexico, and one of the country's longest rivers.
Mayan city located on the banks of the Usumacinta River within the Lacandon jungle 30 km from the town of Frontera Colozal, on the border with Guatemala. It is known for its large number of architectural structures and inscriptions.
This is one of the most important sites of the Late Classic (600-800) and was built taking advantage of the natural topography.
You have to walk in trails through the jungle to get to the next structure, but the effort really worth it because you will discover amaizing buildings with the remains of mural painting and inscriptions.

Some of the most important buildings are the Great Acropolis, the South Acropolis, the West Acropolis and the Small Acropolis.
It is characterized by its beautiful architecture, sculptural art and 130 inscriptions found on steles, altars and lintels where ceremonies, battles, rituals, self-sacrifices, actions of rulers and facts of daily life are narrated.
Building 19 known as "The Labyrinth" has a series of underground corridors that lead to small rooms, one of these corridors is sealed and it is not known where it leads.
Location
The site is reached by the Usumacinta River, 32 km from Frontera Corozal. It is 120 km southeast of Palenque.
