Archaeological Sites in Mexico

There are dozens of archeological sites open to the public, all with a story to tell and a most of them surrounded by a breathtaking landscape. Whether in the desert, in the mountains or in the jungle, these places offer traditions, legends and sometimes great enigmas.

The north of the country offers an infinite number of intriguing cave paintings with varied shapes and colors, as well as sites as unique as Paquimé.

All over the center, Mexico has countless sites such as La Cañada de la Vírgen, Las Ranas, La Cantona, Los Guachimontones, Tzinzunzan, or El Tamtoc, among many others.

In the southeast, you can venture into the Toltec world and explore El Tajín, or go to La Venta and discover these huge Olmec heads, or explore the Mayan culture through its fascinating vestiges such as Chichen Itza or Palenque.
