This area had two periods of occupation between the years 900 and 1450 A.D.
The first of nomadic groups and later of sedentary settlements, related to the Chalchihuites culture. The site has structures in the form of pyramids and shrines.
The site has structures in the form of pyramids and shrines built with flagstones.
Sereveral unique ceramic pieces have been found in this site, they were used to hold ceremonial offerings and some other object for daily life. The variety of the pieces show the practice certain types of commercial exchanges, but also give the opportunity to learn more about the Chalchihuites Culture than it spanned from 600 to 1350 AD.
La Ferrería
La Ferrería Site Museum
There is a two-room museum explaining the culture of the Chalchihuites people who built the structures with an exhibit of the pieces found in this site and others in the region. Some ceramic pieces are very well-preserved and some others are a sample of the trade relations this culture had with other cultures from the region.

It is located 8 kilometers from the city on the road to La Flor, near the town of Ferrería, traveling 3 kilometers along the edge of the irrigation canal, on Calle 4 de Octubre No. 501 La Ferrería Town.
