It is one of the most important archaeological zones in the West of the country.
The name means "obsidian hill", however, since 1964, the scholars change the meaning to "ixtli hill or maguey fiber".
There is a clear influence from the Teotihuacan culture.
Must see Buildings
The larger temple is located north to the site, facing east of the city. Today Ixtepete has been turned into a nice ecological park.
The buildings are at least 7, superimposed by a period of 52 years between each one, a period that the indigenous people had established in their calendar to measure time.
