This Totonac settlement flourished between 600 and 900 A.D.

It offers a unique information about its rituals and ceremonies, where women had a very important role, all reflected in amazing mural paintings found in the site.

Must see Buildings

Along the area there are some mounds, the most important is Building Number One with a group of wall paintings in the floors and walls.

There is also an shrine and another series of murals with representations of the ball game.

Las Higueras Site Museum

The museum exhibits a collection of stone utensils such as metates and molcajetes, but the most relevant are the copies of the murals.
