An ancient Huastec city inhabited from the 900 to 1521 A.D.
The site received its current name because there is a temple or archaeological monument in the municipality of the same name. The pyramid is known as El Castillo. Castillo de Teayo Site Museum
The museum display a colection of pieces from northern Veracruz like rock sculptures of Mexican deities such as Tláloc (God of rain), Xipe Tótec (Our Lord the Flayed One) and Macuilxóchitl (Goddess of flowers).

Plaza de la Pirámide s / n, Centro, Castillo de Teayo, Veracruz, 40 minutes from Poza Rica and an hour and a quarter from Papantla. The main access to the site is via Federal Highway 130 México-Tuxpan up to the city of Teayo
