It is known worldwide for the quality of its pottery production; the figurines and vessels found in this site are exhibited in national and international museums.

The first evidences of human occupation on the site dates back to the early Cassical period (250-600 AD), and its peak, reflected in its architecture and pottery production, was during the Late Classic (600-800 A.D.).
