This is a canyon that lies between the hills La Zorra and El Antrisco, with an approximate area of six square kilometers.

It is without a doubt, the best known archeological site in the State of Nuevo León.

The carved rocks have very varied shapes, which indicates that they were made during different times.

Almost 400 rocks with around 3,000 engravings made by Neolithic men can be explored. It is the largest concentration of petroglyphs in Mexico. It is estimated that the pre-Hispanic ovens or furnace stoves date from 6960 B.C. to 1760 A.D., that means that the area was occupied for 8,000 years.

Other artifacts that have been found in the area are: arrow heads with various shapes, grinding stones including grinding wheels and hands, small engraved plates and unique objects such as some locally produced ceramic pots and a shell bead from the Gulf of Mexico.

Due to its high concentration of engravings, Boca de Potrerillos may be one of the most important sites for the study of petroglyphs in the country.
