UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Mexico

The places considered World Heritage Sites are a legacy of monuments and sites of great natural and cultural wealth that belong to all humanity.

Actualmente, la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial cuenta con 1,199 sitios inscritos, de los cuales 933 son bienes culturales, 227 bienes naturales y 39 bienes mixtos.

Hasta 2023 México cuenta con 35 lugares, de los cuales 27 son Patrimonio Cultural, 6 como Patrimonio Natural y 2 como Patrimonio Mixto. Esto lo convierte en el sexto país con mayor cantidad de sitios inscritos a nivel mundial y el primero dentro del continente americano.

In addition, Mexico has 7 traditions and celebrations as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Mexico City is the entity with the most Properties with four; followed by Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Querétaro and the State of Mexico with three; Campeche, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Yucatán, Chihuahua, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla, Sonora and Zacatecas with two; and Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Aguascalientes, Baja California, Durango, Hidalgo, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí and Sinaloa with one.
