Its occupation goes from the Early Classic in 400 A.D until 1500 A.D.

This place, along with Queréndaro, Huandacareo. Araró and Zinapécuaro, etc., are part of the group of pre-Hispanic towns settled around the lagoon.

The interrelation that should have existed between them and the Teotihuacans is reflected in the archaeological objects found in these sites.

Must see Buildings

For centuries this site was used as a sacred burial ground because hundreds of remains of rulers, servants and sacrificial victims were found in here, along with rich offerings.

Among the most important structes are the so-called Mound 1, to the northeast of the site, the central plaza with a shrine in the middle and Mounds 2 and 3 where there are four chambers placed in the direction of the cardinal points.
