This is one of the most interesting archeological sites in the region.
The importance is due to its arrangement and architectural elements.
The beginning of the occupation of this city dates from the Late Classic between 800 and 900 A.D.
This Totonac settlement is located on the slopes of the Cerro Bernal and probably served as a fortress, although there are no many military buildings.
Must see Buildings
The site has terraces, stairways, walls and a ball game. To the west is the palace with three staircases, the Central Plaza with marvelous coastal views, where Pyramid 1 stands out for its decoration and size.
In Quiahuiztlán were found serveral burials.
The central cemetery had 36 tombs organized in two irregular rows while the eastern cemetery had 28 tombs laid out in rows without any apparent order. In the south there are other tombs lined in four large buildings.Sculptures of humans, felines, birds and supernatural monsters related to the way rulers proclaimed their power have also been found at the site.In the site has also been found maller sculptures of humans, felines, birds, and supernatural monsters related with the way the rulers proclaimed their power.

Location
It is located in the coastal strip of Veracruz on the hill of the Metates in Actopan, Veracruz, 34 km north of Zempoala and approximately an hour and a quarter from the Port of Veracruz.
