The paintings are distributed in three areas.

Several anthropomorphic Olmec-style pictographs were found in a series of caves.

In the North Grotto the pictographs are small the black pigment is predominant; there are representations of animals, humans and fantastic creatures.

In the Central Grotto there are two large polychromatic murals. In one of them the painting features a richly dressed character, sitting on the head of a jaguar monster that simulates a cave. It was painted on a cliff at 10 m high in various shades of red, blue, ocher and reddish brown.

In the South Grotto the designs are mostly red and geometric.

Although it is difficult to date the paintings, experts place this art between 900 and 400 B.C.
