This site played a very important role in the navigation route of the Mayans.

It was inhabited between the Early Classic and the Late Postclassic (1200 to 1500 A.D).

Must see Buildings

The site includes 14 structures in the civic and ceremonial plaza, dominated by El Castillo (“The Castle”), a pyramid of 5 levels (12.5 meters), and the Main Square with an shrine in the center.

In the north side of the plaza there is another interesting temple, is especially notable for the presence of a beautiful fig tree, which has grown from inside the building giving the structue a very distinctive appearance.

It is located 5 km north of Cancun near Puerto Juarez.
