Its name means "Water of the North".

It was one of the first Mayan towns that the Spanish conquerors visited in 1518.

This site was occupied from the year 1200 to 1500 A.D.

 

Must see Buildings

There are 19 groups of civic-religious buildings that have been explored. The groups B, C and D are the best preserved, especially Structure C-1, the largest in the site with remains of interesting murals.

In the C group there is another interesting structure with a “U” shaped wall, surrounding the group of main structures.

It is located in the Municipality of Solidaridad, a few minutes from Playa del Carmen in Playacar.

Monday to Sunday from 8:00 to 17:00 hrs.
