It is located in the upper part of a wide hill 50 minutes from Acapulco.
Its name was given by the Nahua groups that arrived after the Conquest, it means “Place of the sacred water”.
This settlement served as a ceremonial center from 650 A.D. until 1300 A.D., and reached its peak towards the year 1000 A.D.
Must see Buildings
Monuments such as pyramids and palaces were built around the Great Plaza, and the plaza is surrounded by hills in the four cardinal directions. This civic-ceremonial center was dedicated to the cult of the sun, the water and the hills.
The archaeological zone is composed of 8 major architectural groups and 10 minor structures.
It has an Introductory Room that serves to contextualize the archaeological zone. The assembly describes the sacred spaces, the groups that inhabited it, its architecture, the petroglyphs and the importance that the observation of the stars had for its inhabitants.

It is located in the common Carrizal de la Vía, near Tierra Colorada, approximately one hour from Chilpancingo and 67 km, and one hour and 20 minutes from Acapulco.
