The site dates from the Late Postclassic -1200-1500 A.D.

It is located within the largest ecological reserve of Cozumel.

El Caracol served as a point of orientation for maritime traffic and a place of connection with the rest of the island. The site consists of 3 main structures, 2 temples and an altar.

Location

It is located at the southern tip of the island of Cozumel, 30 km from San Miguel and just over 1 km from the Punta Celarain Lighthouse.
