This is oldest known human settlement in the Valley of Mexico.
It was established on the shore of Lake Chalco and was one of the first ceremonial centers in Mesoamerica.
The first vestiges date from 1800 B.C. and the occupation continue until the year 400 A.D. The site reached its peak from Early Preclassic to the Early Classic (1200 B.C - 400 B.C).
Must see Buildings
The most important structure in this site is a pyramidal basement located on the slopes of the Elephant Hill built with a series of platforms representing three construction stages.
In the upper part there were three graves with human remains and offerings including vessels, figurines, obsidian and jade items.
The remains of the first inhabitants of the Valley of Mexico, dating back to 30,000 B.C., were find near this site.

Location
It is located in Cda. del Silencio 24 in the town of Santa María Tlapacoya, Municipality of Ixtapaluca, southeast of the State of Mexico.
