Monumental complex close to Monte Alban.

This Zapotec settlement housed the nobility. There are numerous palaces, residential complexes, three ball games and several plazas.

Its occupation period ranges from the Middle Preclassic to the Late Postclassic (500-850 A.D.).

High quality ceramic pieces and funeral urns have also been found in this site.

From its north side, you have an excellent panoramic view of the Etla Valley and thanks to the way it has been explored it has become one of the most important archaeological sites in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca.

Location

It is located on the top of El Bonete hill in the municipality of Santa María Atzompa, 4 km from Monte Albán, Oaxaca.
