EXCEPTIONAL RUSTIC BEAUTY

The tranquil fishing village of Puerto Angel is west of Huatulco. Set in an area of rugged natural beauty, it is surrounded by cliffs that are covered with dense exuberant vegetation. Its beaches are battered by the powerful surf of the deep blue sea.

A very popular spot for those looking for a great camping experience, Puerto Ángel offers minimal accommodations, but does have some hotels and boarding houses.

Nearby is the city of San Pedro Pochutla with an attractive zocalo and its traditional Tianguis on Mondays. A little further on, in the direction of the city of Oaxaca, is Chacalapa, a typical quiet town at the foot of the Sierra, which offers some natural attractions. Fly to Puerto Ángel (in a small plane), take the bus, or take Highway 175 from Oaxaca or Highway 200 from Puerto Escondido.
