PICTURESQUE DESTINATION, A MECA FOR SURFING AND DIVING

The picturesque town of Puerto Escondido is surrounded by a multitude of bays and rugged hills, and graced by lush vegetation. With average temperatures of 82°F and bright sunshine year round, the town is also blessed with good weather, allowing visitors endless opportunities to enjoy the amazing natural beauty of the area. Formerly a shipping port for coffee and timber exports, the town is today an ideal place to relax in the sun and practice water sports. Puerto Escondido is a favorite with surfers worldwide. There is no traffic downtown, which is for pedestrians only, so you can leisurely stroll along Pérez Gazca Avenue, and visit the shops, restaurants, and art and crafts stores. From luxury resorts to moderately priced lodging, Puerto Escondido offers accommodations to suit every budget and taste.

It is a great experience to visit this Oaxacan town and enjoy its wonderful beaches, perfect for a wide variety of water sports. Zicatela, is the most famous beach in Puerto Escondido, for its amazing waves, often compared to Hawaii's famous surf.

Fly from Huatulco, Oaxaca and Mexico City, or take a bus. If you prefer to drive, take Highway 200 from Mexico City (456 miles away) or Acapulco (250 miles away). From Oaxaca, take Federal Highway 131.
