Chacahua Lagoons National Park is a beautiful nature reserve that houses a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is part of the La Pastoría - Chacahua - Las Salinas lagoon complex and covers an area of 14,187 hectares, 24% of which corresponds to these five lagoons.
The park is home to 136 species of birds, 23 reptiles, 4 amphibians, and 20 mammals. Of all this fauna, there are 9 endemic species to Mexico. Two species of sea turtles nest on the park's beaches: the olive ridley and the leatherback. There is a crocodile farm.
These lagoons are bordered by mangroves covering an area of 2,710 hectares, 19.13% of the park's total area.
In the lagoon, you can visit the Wildlife Research Center, which includes an impressive crocodile sanctuary.

Location
Located 81 km, approximately an hour and a half from Puerto Escondido. Head west on Federal Highway 200 and take the deviation to the community of El Zapotalito. The town of Chacahua is located at the western end of the National Park.
