Some of the beaches in Puerto Angel have been chosen by turtles lay its eggs.

The absolute best way to see a sea turtle nesting or turtle release is in Playa Escobilla, one of the world’s most important nesting sites for olive ridley turtles. The turtles arrive on the beach two or three nights after the full moon, dig holes up to 60 cm deep and deposit their eggs, covering them later with the same sand. Especially during the nesting season that runs from May to September.

If you are interested in knowing more about turtles you can visit the Turtle Museum in the Mexican Turtle Center located west of Puerto Angel on the Zipolite Highway in Mazunte Bay where you can see different varieties of turtles and visit interesting exhibitions.
