ENSENADA

High season in Ensenada is between January and February, when the waves measure up to 3-meter (10 feet). The best beaches are:

Salsipuedes (leave if you can)

DLies at the mammoth feet of a stretch of Northern Baja's steepest coastal cliffs. The break has a rocky bottom with a lot of urchins, you better use booties, especially at lower tides. The waves are fast and powerful with a length of 50 to 150 m. San Miguel is the best wave in Northern Baja. It is recommended for experienced surfers. Here you can campo or rent a trailer.

Stacks

It is a quite exposed beach and reef break that has consistent surf. The best wind direction is from the east northeast. The bottom is sandy with rocks. It is for all types of surfers.

3 Emes

It is very consistent, breaks on both sides and has a bottom of flat rocks with sand. The normal length is from 50 to 150 m, but it can reach 300 m. It is for all types of surfers. 3 Ms can have surfable waves year round, but is best during the Winter and Fall months. You can camp up the beach, but is very close to Ensenada.

Isla de Todos Los Santos

Located 10 miles (16 kilometers) off the coast of Ensenada, can only be accessed by boat. It breaks on both sides, the bottom is sandy, the length ranges from 150 to 300 m. An underwater channel makes the waves very long and powerful, reaching 10 to 18 m. It is alson known as Killers because capture and boost long period W-NW swells to produce one of the biggest waves in North America. It is a place only for professionals.

Punta San José

Punta Cabras

Punta Cabras is a sandy cove. It breaks in both directions and the bottom is sandy with rocks. It is a place that all surfers can enjoy and a good place for camping.

K-181

It is also known as Eréndira, is an exposed reef break that has fairly consistent surf. The best wind direction is from the east northeast. The bottom is a coral reef and sharp rocks. The waves are very powerful so it is recommended for experienced surfers. The autumn and Winter months are the best time for surfing in this place.

Cuatro Casas

It breaks to the right and the bottom is a coral reef and sharp rocks. The length goes from 50 to 150 m., but can reach 300 m. It is not an epic surf spot but is for all types of surfers and if you are looking to surf on your own wave there are a lots of spots along the beach. It is a good camping option and there is a beachside hostel.

ROSARITO

It is an excellent option, especially in the beach strip from Baja Malibu to the Mission, where there are quality waves all year round.

Baja Malibú

The waves are fast with a normal length of 50 to 150 m. It is for all types of surfers and excelent for beginners. On windy afternoons, kite-boarders surf north to south with ease.

Raul’s

The waves here are not epic but there are a number of all around good breaks here. It has a coral reef bottom with sharp rocks. Its normal length is from 50 to 150 m, although it can reach 300 m. It is for all types of surfers and has a relaxing environment. You can camp on the bluff for just a small fee.

La Fonda

It is an exposed point/rivermouth break that has very consistent surf. La Fonda has a sandy bottom with rocks. Its length is from 50 to 150 m. Summer months offers the best conditions for surfing. It can be a wave for beginners and advanced surfers. It has facilities for camping.

Alisitos

It is an exposed beach break that has consistent surf. The waves break on both sides and the bottom is sandy. The length is from 50 to 150 m but can reach 300 m. It is a place to enjoy surfing no matter how much experience you have. Summer months are the best for surfing in here. It is a beautiful panoramic beach with spaces for camping and usually there are not many surfers.
