It is one of the pre-Hispanic treasures of the Costa Grande de Guerrero and is located in Soledad de Maciel.
It is believed that it is a ceremonial center occupied by the cultures of Tomiles, Cuitlatecos and Tepoztecas and that it was as important as Teotihuacán.
It is estimated that the site was occupied for more than 3000 years and had an exchange with several pre-Hispanic cultures. One of its most peculiar characteristics is that it was built using the planets and stars as a reference for its design, specifically the planet Venus, the Sun and the North Star.
For its construction, they used an adobe platform to leveled the land and then build four massive structures, which delimit a plaza. North to the plaza is the Palace and the ballgame and South is the Cerro de los Brujos .
Another unique feature is that the huge structures were surrounded by a system of artificial canals connected to the San Jeronimito River.
Discover all the secrets of this fascinating archaeological site with the Tour to La Soledad de Maciel and Xihuacan. The tour includes a visit to the museum and a poblado nearby village that has preserved many pre-Hispanic traditions.
