It is located in the Copalillo valley, at the confluence of the Amacuzac and Mezcala rivers.

This archaeological zone is the most important of Olmec era in the state of Guerrero. It was inhabited mainly between 1000 B.C. and 500 A.D.

Must see Buildings

The most important group is in the main entrance and is known as “El Recinto” (Enclosure), it is a sunken patio surrounded by vertical walls raised with huge blocks of stone.

Stone-faced patios and bas-relief monumental art are the characteristic features of this site. There are also a couple of ball games.

It is located in the northern region of the mountain in Copalillo, Guerrero, approximately three hours from Chilpancingo.
