Must see Buildings
It is a very special place because while you learn about the history, you can also enjoy nature. The landscape is absolutely amazing with trees, mountains waterfalls, a grand lake and ponds. The archaeological vestiges are located on small islands and peninsulas known as: Crab Islands, El Sabino, Hasam, Puente de Mora, El Buho and El Limonal, among others.
The structures found in El Limonal, which is the largest island, are the most important. In its southern part there are courtyards surrounded by foundations and in the northern part is the nuclear area of the ceremonial center with altars, small structures, pyramids 1, 2, 3 and 4, the ballgame and a large platform.
The largest pyramid is 12 meters tall. In addition, it has closed and open plazas and several interconnected platforms.
Another important element discovered in the area is a thousand years old stele depicting a war scene.
