Tammapul in Huasteco means “Place of Mists”.

According to researchers, the city was inhabited betwee 600 and 900 A.D.

It is believed to be a Huastec settlement, however the pieces found on the site relate the site with the culture of Río Verde established in San Luis Potosí.

The pyramid called "Cuizillo" is the most important structure in the site, is a circular building and the base has a diameter of 41 meters and a height of 12 meters.

Nearby you can visit the vestiges of the Ex Hacienda Los Charcos, which are surrounded by enormous 6 m height organs pipe cactus.
