This was the port of departure for the pilgrimages to Cozumel, and it was known as Polé.

This crossing was done in canoes made with hollowed logs and it was an anual ritual in honor of Ixchel, goddess of fertility, health, water, vegetation, painting and weaving.

Beside Polé was an important commercial center.

The site was inhabited from 600 to 1550 A.D, and knew its heyday during the Late Preclassic to the Late Postclassic (1000-1550 A.D).

Must see Buildings

The buildings are distributed along the coast with a wall that seems to have limited access to ceremonial groups.

A system of low-cut stone walls or walls delimit the residential area with small platforms and several rooms.
