It was occupied from the Early Preclassic in 1200 A.D. to the Late Postclassic in 1600.

This site was one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the region of the state of Morelos and it was founded at the foot of the Cerro del Olinche beside the river Cuautla.

Must see Buildings

The main pyramid was transformed along the different periods of time until it reached 33 feet, it was built with the stones brought from the Cuautla River. Around 1220 A.D., Tlahuica groups arrived to the area and gave the site the current name. The ceremonial center had 16 temples built around a number of plazas. d. C., los grupos de Tlahuica llegaron al área y le dieron al sitio el nombre actual. El centro ceremonial tenía 16 templos construidos alrededor de varias plazas.

Today there are only few remains and only mounds 1 and 5 as well as some other minor structures can be visited.

It is located on the Ayala-Moyotepec highway in the municipality of Ayala, south of Cuautla, Morelos, approximately 20 minutes from Cuautla.
