The indigenous civilization of the Sierra de Tamaulipas received a powerful cultural influence from the nuclear zone of Mesoamerica.
Must see Buildings
The site is scatter aroun 14 ha. and there are a number of circular bases, retaining walls, terraces and staircases built with large slabs of limestone. There have been found more than 600 structures and they are very well preserved, but only 30 have been explore.
El Sabinito is very well planned, it has plazas of various diameters and heights built with connecting terraces and avenues in complete harmony with the surroundings.
Some of the most important structures are two large twin circular buildings in the hillside, joined together by a stairway wall to reach a ceremonial square, which is also accessed by stepped terraces surrounded by buildings.
In the main plaza is the largest pyramid and a ceremonial altar 2 meters wide by 6 meters long with slopes at the ends, believed to have served as a sacrificial altar.

Location
It is located in the Sierra de San José de las Rusias, between Ciudad Victoria and Soto La Marina on the top of a hill surrounded by dense jungle vegetation, approximately an hour and a half from Ciudad Victoria.
