The site dates from the Preclassic (1000 to 1500 B.C) and it was an important ceremonial center.

There is a shell pyramid built approximately 1,500 years ago in the center of the Agua Brava lagoon, a circular estuary.

This mound is a pre-Hispanic oratory with an approximate height of 30 meters and the base measures 100 meters by 80 meters. It is a unique construction in the state and archaeologists claim that it took about a hundred years to built this structure.

Location

It is located near the town of Teacapan a few kilometers from Escuinapa, south of Mazatlan.
