This important site is also known as Tinganio which means "place where fire begins" in Purépecha.

This area corresponds to the period in which there were many changes in Mesoamerica after the fall of Teotihuacán, it goes from 450 to 900 A.D.

Its architecture breaks with the characteristics of the settlements of the region. Its peak goes from 100 to 575 d. C.

Among the most importat constructions are: Plaza 2, the shrines, the ball court and Tomb 1, where rich and varied offerings were found.

Location

It is located in the town of Santiago Tingambato, Michoacán, 40 minutes from Uruapan and 45 minutes from Pátzcuaro.
