BAROQUE CONSTRUCTIONS WITH INDIGENOUS TRADITION

It is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Mexico.

It is located in a fertile valley surrounded by mountains in the state of Chiapas, southern Mexico, only 68 km from Tuxtla Gutierrez.

Its cobbled and peaceful streets, lined with houses featuring large red-tile eaves and flower-filled courtyards, reveal religious monuments influenced by Mexican and Central American viceregal art. Indigenous people from neighboring villages come to the bustling city markets to offer textiles, ceramics, fruits, and vegetables.

The city is a beautiful "Pueblo Mágico" (Magical Town) and is in the process of being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A good option for sightseeing in San Cristóbal is El Coleto, a picturesque tram that travels a circuit where the main attractions of the town are located. Along the way, it provides information about the history and the most iconic sites. It departs from Avenida Insurgentes.

With the artisanal and gastronomic richness of Chiapas, another must-visit stop is the Mercado de Dulces y Artesanías (Market of Sweets and Crafts), where you can find a great variety of items to take home as gifts and souvenirs.

The climate in San Cristóbal is temperate subhumid, with an average annual temperature of around 17ºC. During the summer months, the temperature reaches around 24ºC, while in winter it can drop as low as 5ºC.

It is located 60 km (one hour and fifteen minutes) from the capital of Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutierrez, and 430 km (6 hours) from Tapachula.
