ROMPOPE

This drink is an alcoholic beverage eggnog-like drink made with eggs, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, milk, and vanilla flavouring. It is believed to have been invented by nuns in the convent of Santa Clara in Puebla and this version uses ground almonds, which provide flavor and intense creaminess. It can be served cold, but it's particularly delicious warm. It is very common in Puebla, Jalisco and Chiapas.

ROSCA DE REYES

Oval-shaped piece of bread

It is an oval-shaped piece of bread that's soft, buttery, and has a hint of orange flavor. The rosca symbolizes the love of God and is decorated with dried or candied fruit. It can be filled with cream, nata, mocha or chocolate. It is eaten every January 6 for Día de Los Reyes, Three Kings Day. Inside the bread, or Rosca is a plastic little doll (about one inch long) representing baby Jesus. Whoever gets the doll in their slice has to cook tamales on February 2nd. Also called Candelaria Day.
