Throughout the Riviera Nayarit you can find a wide variety of restaurants.

Only in the Vallarta area there are more than 400 restaurants. Each one offers different styles, environments and type of food from a large number of nationalities. The destinatio has something for all tastes.

No one does traditional Mexican seafood better than Nayarit, so it is always advisable to try some of the traditional dishes, like: “pescado zarandeado”, a seasoned fish cook over mangrove wood charcoal; “enchiladas de ostión”, the traditional dish of corn tortillas soaked in a spicy sauce stuffed with oyster; oyster stew; “lisa tatemada en leña de mangle”, grilled fish cook over mangrove wood charcoal; “tlaxtihuille”, a thick shrimp stew seasoned with various spices; and many dishes made with shrimps like pate, “albóndigas” (fish balls), “chicharrón”, “empanadas”, and “tamales”.

As for the desserts, you can enjoy a delicious banana bread from San Blas or freshly toasted sweet corn gorditas.

Among the region's typical beverages are: the cane juice; the “nanche” liquor; the “tepache”, fermented beverage made from the peel and the rind of pineapples; and the tejuino, a very refreshing drink, better known as the ''drink of the Huichol gods'', usually made from corn dough, mixed with water and piloncillo, it is served with lemon, salt and chile piquin.
