WHAT TO EAT IN TEKAX

When it comes to gastronomy, Tekax is known for its delicious Yucatecan dishes.

Here, you can enjoy the traditional cochinita pibil, an iconic dish of the region consisting of pork marinated in achiote and slow-cooked. You can also try other typical dishes such as poc chuc, panuchos, and salbutes. Don’t forget to accompany your meal with a refreshing horchata or a local beer.

You can also delight in other local dishes like puchero, mondongo a la andaluza, chaya with egg, fish empalizado, brazo de reina, and stuffed cheese.

Tekax has gained fame for its artisanal bread known as “mamules,” made with lard, egg, and flour. The difference lies in its exquisite fillings.

Another gastronomic experience you can't miss in this Magical Town is the ice cream or chaya water sold in the Main Park.

If you want to enjoy a local experience, you can savor this typical cuisine at the municipal market.
