WHAT TO EAT IN TLAQUEPAQUE

Tlaquepaque is known for its art galleries, handicrafts but also for its regional gastronomy.

While you walk thoroug the beautiful streets you can delight the aromas, the colors and the flavors.

There are many restaurants where you can enjoy the most representative and typical food of the town, including the ones in the Independencia Avenue, a vibrant and bustling area and of course the famous Parían.

Among its typical dishes are: pipián (a sauce with puréed greens and thickened with ground pumpkin seeds), pozole (a cross between a soup and a stew made from hominy with meat), menudo (tripe soup), birria (a meat stew that has been simmering with an assortment of chilie), carne tatemada (juicy and very soft meat) and the squash flower quesadillas, to mention a few.

A must try in your visit to Tlaquepaque is a drink known as cazuelita made with grapefruit soda, citrus juice and tequila. Its name comes from the fact that it is served in a clay pot with a lot of ice. Also, being in Jalisco you can enjoy a delicious tequila.
