WHAT TO EAT IN IXTLÁN DEL RÍO

One of the most iconic dishes in Ixtlán is the pollo a la plaza (chicken with vegetables and red enchiladas).

Among other typical dishes are: the birria de chivo (tender braised goat simmered in a flavorful thick chili sauce) and pollo frito a la picha (fried chicken with vegetables and red sauce). In front of the portals there are some taquerías that offer delicious snacks.

There is a whole tradition of sorbets and ice cream in the town, although you can also enjoy the typical sweets that are sold in front of the portals every afternoon in a cart, which have been made for 70 years by the same family.

You can also refresh yourself with a delicious tejuino (corn-based drink).
