WHAT TO EAT IN TULUM

Tulum has been gaining a place within the gastronomy of the Mexican Caribbean.

With its atmosphere and such particular characteristics it has created places that seem to come out of a dream or a movie.

This destination offers modern and rustic restaurants and either you can have incredible views of the Caribbean or enjoy the tropical jungle, offering absolute privacy and stunning landscapes.

You can find restaurants that cook the traditional cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork seasoned with axiote) on a brick oven grill under the palm trees, or others that offer such a unique combination as oyster mushroom ceviche and Mayan curry with milk coconut. Although traditional Mexican flavors are the focus of many of Tulum's menus, there is a wide variety of other cuisines ranging from the simplest like ceviche and fresh fish to creations by internationally recognized chefs offering traditional Mayan dishes, Mexican snacks or international food.

True to the bohemian spirit of Tulum, this seaside town is also packed with vegetarian and vegan restaurants where you can savor a collection of tasty and healthy juices and bowls.

The incredible creativity does not stop at the dishes, but there is also a series of drinks that combine tropical fruits and herbs with tequila or mezcal in an original and sophisticated way.

If you are looking for a tasty way to beat the heat, you try the Flor de Michoacán popsicles, which are based on fruits such as kiwi, pineapple or mango with frozen fruit slices inside the popsicle. Or you can try the popsicles that include flavors like chocolate-dipped ice cream, Oreo, and strawberries and cream.
