WHAT TO EAT IN ZACATLÁN
The state of Puebla is famous for its food. It’s home to some of the tastiest and famous dishes from Mexico and Zacatlán also offer a variety of mouthwatering dishes.
Among the typical dishes are the chicken, rabbit or beef mixiote, mole de guajolote (turkey mole), barbacoa (meats slow-roasted over an open fire) and chicharrón prensado (made from the bits left behind after frying large batches of pork meat and rind), among others.
In Zacatlán you can enjoy its offer of delicious snacks such as sopes, tlacoyos, chalupas and of course a wide variety of tamales that include mole, bean, rajas and also some sweet tamales.

Molasses Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
- 280 grams of flour
- 200 grams of butter
- 140 grams brown or superfine sugar, according to taste
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons of molasses
Directions:
In a container put the butter, sugar and molasses. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
Lightly beat the yolk and add to the previous mixture and continue beating.
Sift the flour and add it to the previous mixture little by little, stirring until there are no lumps.
Divide the dough into two balls and wrap it in a transparent paper. Reserve in the fridge for 60 minutes
Preheat the oven to 190ºC and line the tray with baking paper.
After 60 minutes, spread the dough with the help of a rolling pin on a floured surface.
Continue extending until the desired thickness is reached and cut the cookies giving them the shape you want.
Bake between 10 and 15 minutes.
