WHAT TO EAT IN SISAL

On the beaches, near the pier, and in the center there are several establishments that offer delicious dishes cooked with the catch of the day.

Here you can savor delicious fresh ceviches and a variety of fish cooked in different ways.

Among the typical dishes are a carpaccio de caracol (snail carpaccio), a pulpo frito (fried octopus) or manos de cangrejo (crab hands).

“Ceviche Yucateco” Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg grouper fillet cut into small pieces
  • 1 kg of lemon
  • 5 grams of ground black pepper
  • 30 milliliters of olive oil
  • 1 kg of tomato cut into small pieces
  • 200 grams of coriander disinfected and finely chopped
  • 80 grams of finely chopped habanero pepper
  • salt to taste

Directions:

In a deep mold, add the fish with the lemon juice, salt, pepper and olive oil and mix for three to five minutes. Store it in the refrigerator for approximately four hours, stirring very well every half hour so that the fish cooks evenly.

Serve in a glass and add the tomato, onion, coriander and habanero pepper. Stir all the ingredients.

Serve with corn tortilla chips or crackers.
