WHAT TO EAT IN SANTA ROSALÍA

Santa Rosalía’s coastal location means its cuisine is centered around seafood, prepared with recipes showing clear French influences.

You can enjoy shrimp, prawns, clams, oysters, octopus, squid, and fresh fish, prepared as ceviche, tacos, aguachile, steamed, or grilled. 

Besides seafood, you can also find a variety of traditional Mexican dishes like enchiladas, tamales, pozole, mole, and Mexican snacks.

One of Santa Rosalía’s most emblematic flavors is the famous “El Boleo” bread. This bread clearly demonstrates the region’s French heritage, offering traditional baguettes and other breads incorporating Mexican influences.

Manta ray Machaca Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg fresh stingray 
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic 
  • Green chili (to taste)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • oregano
  • Chicken seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Boil water in a saucepan.

Add the fresh stingray,  1 garlic clove, bay leaves, half an onion in chunks, salt, and pepper, and cook until the stingray is tender.

Once cooked, shred the stingray.

Heat a bit of olive oil in a frying pan and sauté the shredded stingray, chopped onion, two chopped garlic cloves, finely chopped green chili, a pinch of oregano, and chicken seasoning.

Serve with flour tortillas and refried beans.
