It was founded by the Jesuits in the early 18th century, when they built the Mission of Santa Rosa de Todos Los Santos. After the expulsion of the Jesuits, their place was taken by the Dominicans and the Franciscans.
The town is characterized by its colonial architecture and the colorful beauty of its orchards. Its streets reflect its history through the old buildings, and it is a meeting place of cultures, where it is not difficult to find an art gallery showcasing the works of renowned artists.
Throughout the year, several festivals and events are celebrated, such as the Mango Festival in July, the Wine and Gastronomy Festival in May, the Film Festival in March, the Art Festival also in March, the Music Festival in January, and the Patron Saint Festival of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in October.
The climate is temperate and dry, with an annual temperature of 23ºC, which can rise up to 34ºC in the summer months and drop to 12ºC in the winter months.
It is located 76 km (one hour) from Los Cabos and 82 km (one hour and 10 minutes) from La Paz.
