WHAT TO EAT IN MASCOTA

One of the most iconic dishes in Mascote is the traditional meat with chili.

Among other typical dishes of Mascota are: gorditas, enchiladas, sopes (a thick corn tortilla-like masa cake made from masa harina, water, salt, and oil with many toppings), jocoque and of course two traditional dishes of Jalisco cuisine, pozole (rich, brothy soup made with pork, hominy, and red chiles), and birria (stew made with goat meat).

Be sure to buy some of their typical sweets, especially those made with guava, such as: stuffed guavas, guava rolls or sour guayabita, or some delicious dried apricots mangos.

You can also enjoy a delicious walnut or vanilla rompope (beverage prepared with egg yolks).
