WHAT TO EAT IN TEPOTZOTLÁN

Tepotzotlán cuisine is a good combination of colonial and pre-Hispanic gastronomy.

Among its typical dishes are red enchiladas, huitlacoche quesadillas, mushrooms or squash flower, barbacoa (slow-roast lamb) and toluco chiles.

If you are looking for something more exotic, you can try some dishes with escamoles (eggs or larvae of giant black ants), caracoles de campo (snails) used to prepared soups, or grasshoppers deep-fried with butter and epazote.

The Municipal Market is an excellent place to savor some of the region's specialties and the delicious appetizers, as well as the pulque.

During your visit, be sure to enjoy the delicious sorbets which are sold from any of the stalls outside the Convent of Tepotzotlan.
