WHAT TO EAT IN SOMBRERETE

The gastronomic tradition of Sombrerete is very important.

Among its traditional dishes are: birria de borrego (goat beef stew), pozole (a cross between soup and stew), asado de boda (pork in a red chile sauce) and “brujitas”, a tasty corn pies stuffed with shredded meat, potatoes, cheese and beans. with jalapeño pepper sauce and fried in oil.

Other very distinctive dishes from Sombrerete are: pan ranchero made with lard and baked in an oven made of adobe, brick, and mud, as well as the tacos de papel (paper tacos), made with very thin tortillas, fried in lard, served with cabbage and stuffed with beans, cheese or rajas, potatoes with picadillo and shredded meat.

You can also try the "Sombrerete style" birria that is prepared with three chiles: the cora, the guajillo and the tree.

Be sure to have a beer at La Barra, which looks more like a museum than a bar.
