WHAT TO EAT IN JIQUILPAN
Jiquilpan offers the delicious Michoacan cuisine.
In this beautiful town you can try all the delicacies of this region such as: barbacoa, churipo, Menudo and pork in green sauce, to name a few.
However, the most iconic dish is the mole cosechero, the incomparable morisqueta that consists of rice with tomato sauce and cheese, and the local version of corundas with chili and cheese wrapped in chard leaves.
In Jiquilpan you can also enjoy the delicious “nieves de garrafa”. And if you're still craving for something sweet, you can delight with the “chorreadas” or the delicious cajeta wafers.
As for drinks, we recommend pot mezcal and craft beers.

“Morisqueta” Recipe
Ingredients for 6 people:
- 1 kg of pork
- ½ kg of tomato
- 2 cups of salted water and 1 cup of clean rice
- 6 serrano chiles
- 2 onions , peeled and coarsely chopped
- 1 garlic
Directions:
Boil water in a container and add salt. When it is boiling, add the rice and lower the heat. Let it cook until the rice is ready.
Place the salted pork in a container with water and let it boil. Once is ready, let it cool.
Blend the tomatoes, onion, garlic and chilies. Season the sauce and add to the meat.
Serve the rice and add the meat with the sauce.
It is suggested to serve with cheese and pickled chiles.
