WHAT TO EAT IN LOS MOCHIS

It is a city that has grown and offers more and more tourist attractions and one of them is definitely its gastronomy.

Among its typical dishes are: chilorio (pork meat that's slowly simmered in a chile-based sauce), corn soup, pork beans, aguachiles, pork tamales, shrimp machaca, crab and marlin, as well as some delicious ceviches.

The Nachos are also the favorites of locals and visitors. You should also try the tacos del chavo, made with flour or corn tortillas, stuffed with meat and potatoes bathed in bean sauce.

There is a refreshing drink called uvola made with grape juice, a lemon, shaved ice, mineral water and sugar.

Shrimp Aguachile Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kilogram of shrimp
  • 2 large, peeled cucumbers
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 bunch of cilantro finely chopped
  • 6 chopped serrano chiles
  • 2 cups of lemon juice
  • 1 package of toast
  • 1 tablespoon of seasoning
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper

Directions:

Slice the shrimp in half (lengthwise) and remove any veins or tails. The process is to open it like a butterfly and not cutting all the way through.

Add a cup of lemon juice, or whatever is needed to cover them completely and put on medium heat for three minutes.

Add the seasoning and cook for another 5 minutes. Drain them, add salt and pepper to taste, as well as the chopped cucumber, coriander and onion.

For the sauce, blend the chopped chili, two tablespoons of cucumber, one tablespoon of cilantro, the juice of one lemon and salt to taste.

Pour the sauce over the shrimp, mix it together and decorate the dish with cubed cucumbers and sliced onions.

This dish is usually accompanied with toast or nachos.

Avocado can also be added.
