QUÉ COMER EN GENERAL CEPEDA

Organic products are grown in its lands. Among them is agave, which is already certified to produce natural aguamiel offered in different presentations and flavors.

In its orchards, you will also find nuts, sold natural or caramelized. Quince, plum, and apricot are also grown to produce sweets and jams.

Another star product of General Cepeda is dairy. Their cheeses and yogurt also meet high-quality standards and are made with milk from free-range cows and sheep that feed on naturally grown forage without pesticides.

In this Magic Town, the Villa de Patos brand emerged, which has gained worldwide fame and offers completely organic products. We recommend trying the aguamiel, quince sweets, and dairy products.

Typical dishes include cabrito in its different modalities, fritada, roast, barbacoa, pork roast, tamales, and cheese stew, as well as quince preserves, dried fruits, cajeta, milk and nut sweets covered with pumpkin, quiote, sweet potato, biznaga, milk ice cream, and jamoncillos.

Quince Sweet Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of quinces (approximately 3-4 large quinces)
  • 600-800 grams of sugar (you can adjust the amount according to your preferred sweetness)
  • water

Directions:

Wash and peel the fruits well. The skin can be quite tough, so be careful when peeling them. Cut them into small pieces, removing seeds and the hard central part.

Place the pieces in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat for 30-40 minutes. Once tender, drain and set aside.

In another pot, place the cooked pieces and add the sugar. Cook over medium heat, constantly stirring to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pot, for about 30-40 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and turns golden.

Remove and blend until you get a smooth and homogeneous paste. Return to the pot and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes to thicken further.

Pour the mixture into a mold or tray to cool and set.

Once completely cold and firm, cut and store in an airtight container.
