Walnut Empanadas Recipe

Ingredients for the empanada (a baked or fried pastry stuffed with any of a variety of fillings):

  • 200 grams of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs, 2 for mixing and another to varnish the surface of the empanada
  • flour

Ingredients for the stuffing:

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 400 grams of ground walnut
  • 1 glass of aniseflour

Directions:

For the filling, mix the walnut with the sugar and aniseed until it becomes a compact paste and let it rest.

Beat the butter with the sugar and add the two eggs without stopping beating. Add enough flour with the royal baking powder and knead until smooth and manageable.

In a greased mold you put one part of the stretched dough and the filling is distributed. Cover with the other part of the well stretched dough and varnish with the beaten egg.

Bake at 180ºC for 45 minutes.
